We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Sutton, supporting children and young people aged 2–19 with a wide range of complex needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher to work with students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Complex Learning Disabilities/Difficulties.

About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and highly personalised lessons based on the individual needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes of your students.
Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students aged 2–19.
- Adapt teaching and learning for students with ASD, SEMH, MSI, PD, MLD, SLD and PMLD.
- Develop personalised learning programmes based on individual EHCP outcomes and learning goals.
- Use a range of creative, sensory and practical teaching approaches to engage learners.
- Monitor, assess and record student progress, identifying appropriate next steps.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, individual learning plans and other relevant documentation.
- Support students to develop communication, independence, social and life skills alongside academic development.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and other support staff to ensure consistent and effective provision.
- Collaborate with therapists and multidisciplinary professionals to meet students' wider needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and provide a calm and supportive learning environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and support students with their emotional and social development.
- Maintain high expectations while recognising and celebrating individual achievements.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers and other professionals regarding student progress and development.
- Contribute to school meetings, training, professional development and the wider life of the school.
About You
The successful SEN Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or complex needs.
- Experience supporting students with one or more of ASD, SEMH, MSI, PD, MLD, SLD or PMLD is desirable.
- A strong understanding of personalised and differentiated teaching.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of learning needs.
- A patient, calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
- The ability to build strong and trusting relationships with students.
- A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for every learner.
- A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
