An inspiring specialist school in Somerset is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and imaginative SEN Class Teacher to join their forward-thinking team from September 2026, with flexibility for an earlier start if available.

This full-time maternity cover position will run until July 2027 and offers MPS to UPS plus SEN allowance.

Catering for pupils aged 4 to 19 with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties, the setting is recognised for its warm atmosphere, exceptional pastoral care and deeply personalised approach to learning.

Staff work collaboratively to create meaningful educational experiences that allow every pupil to develop confidence, communication skills and independence.

This opportunity would suit an experienced SEN practitioner or a mainstream teacher looking to transition into specialist education.

The successful candidate will be passionate about adapting teaching methods to meet a wide range of learning profiles and committed to ensuring every child can access an ambitious and engaging curriculum.

• Plan and deliver highly personalised lessons tailored to EHCP outcomes

• Create stimulating learning environments that encourage progress and participation

• Lead and direct classroom support staff effectively

• Monitor attainment and maintain accurate pupil progress records

• Support pupils’ social, emotional and personal development

• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and multi-agency professionals

• Promote high standards of behaviour and wellbeing throughout the classroom

• Contribute to curriculum development and wider school improvement initiatives

• Qualified Teacher Status

• Excellent classroom practice and strong communication skills

• Creativity, resilience and adaptability

• A genuine commitment to inclusive education

• Experience with complex learning needs, ASD, PMLD or SLD is advantageous

• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

• Supportive leadership and experienced specialist staff

• Strong partnerships with local schools, colleges and the wider community
