Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Oldham from September. This specialist provision supports pupils aged 4-19 years, providing a tailored and nurturing learning environment designed to meet a wide range of communication, sensory and learning needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teaching staff and therapists, you will help deliver individualised support that enables pupils to engage with learning, develop social skills and achieve personal milestones.

No two days are the same, making this a highly rewarding position for someone who is patient, adaptable and committed to supporting young people with additional needs.

• Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
• Deliver 1:1 and small-group learning interventions
• Support pupils using communication strategies such as PECS, visual timetables and AAC systems
• Promote positive behaviour through consistency, encouragement and de-escalation techniques
• Assist pupils in developing social, emotional and independence skills
• Support sensory regulation and engagement throughout the school day
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to achieve positive outcomes
• Assist with personal care where required, including toileting, feeding and mobility support
• Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, disabilities or additional needs
• A caring, resilient and proactive approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
• Flexibility and willingness to support personal care needs
• Commitment to a full-time, long-term position
