SEMH Teacher

Location: Outer London
Start Date: January 2027
Salary: Main Pay Scale (Outer London) + SEN Allowance 2
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate SEMH Teacher to join a growing specialist provision in Outer London.

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and reflective teacher who is committed to supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, including pupils who may also have neurodiverse profiles.

The school takes a relationship-led and nurturing approach to education, recognising that pupils are best able to engage and achieve when they feel safe, valued and understood. Staff are encouraged to look beyond behaviour, understand individual needs and use positive, consistent approaches to help pupils develop both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will create a structured, engaging and supportive learning environment where pupils can develop confidence, independence and a positive relationship with education.

You will plan and deliver engaging lessons that are adapted to meet individual needs, while establishing clear routines, boundaries and expectations. Building strong relationships with pupils will be central to the role, alongside supporting their wider social and emotional development.

You will work closely with colleagues, families and other professionals to understand pupils' individual needs and ensure a consistent approach to their education and wellbeing.

SEMH education can be challenging but incredibly rewarding. You will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who may have experienced difficulties within traditional educational settings, helping them to re-engage with learning, develop resilience and achieve their potential.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a teacher who:

  • Has experience working with pupils with SEMH and/or neurodiverse needs
  • Can build positive, trusting and consistent relationships with young people
  • Is confident establishing clear routines, boundaries and expectations
  • Can adapt teaching and learning to meet individual needs
  • Remains calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
  • Takes a reflective and positive approach to behaviour management
  • Is passionate about supporting vulnerable and disengaged learners
  • Works effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
  • Is committed to improving pupils' academic, social and emotional outcomes

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who wants to take on a rewarding and meaningful role within a specialist setting and make a genuine difference to the lives of young people.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
